ESI Corporate Update

Victoria, British Columbia January 15, 2009 - ESI Environmental Sensors Inc. ("ESI", the "Company") (TSX-V: ESV) has announced a sale to the University of Oklahoma (OU) for two large Moisture•Point™ multiplexing systems. The university will use these systems for a global warming project: a study of what happens to tall prairie grasses in Oklahoma when subjected to warming temperatures and increased precipitation.

Two multiplexers of twenty-four probes each, or a total of 240 measurement points, will be used over three depths to monitor soil data. The easy to use, robust probes will be installed by the researchers involved in the project.

University of Oklahoma is an existing client of ESI engaged in water management studies. However upon referral from another well known researcher that has had success with the ESI product line the University decided to expand its use of Moisture•Point™ devices.

ESI's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, David Porter says "this sale capitalizes on ESI's strength as a global leader in the area of moisture data recording. Leading universities are now using ESI patented technology to study the changes in climate and the effects on soil." Mr. Porter further states that "the results of these findings may bring the global community closer to tracking and understanding information related to climate change."

With academic institutions funding research projects based on climate change and data management, other research institutions are likely to be looking for ways to accurately and safely track changes in moisture levels in the near future.
